To make this possible, the MasLow project was launched in late 2009 in partnership with EclipseIT. An incremental project approach is used for the MasLow project. The core aspect of this approach is that an explicit recalibration is performed before the start of each new increment, both in terms of content and timing of the following increments. In analogy with the MasLow pyramid, the MasLow project is primarily aimed at the basic reporting needs, without losing sight of the ultimate information and reporting needs.
AERO
In close collaboration with DNWB, our BI consultants have developed a new DNWB standard as part of this project, “Analyse- En Rapportage Omgeving” (Analysis And Reporting Environment), or AERO. A new business data model has been developed in line with models developed in the sector. This model forms the basis for the internal supply of information and for communication with external parties. The implementation of this model is in accordance with DataVault technology. Microsoft SQL Server has been used as a standard for integration, analysis and reporting.
Successes
The AERO environment has already contributed many times to optimisation of the supervision function pursued by DNWB. Key success factors for the project are:
-
the robust BI architecture;
-
the incremental project approach;
-
the fast DataVault implementation;
-
the right people in the right places.
Thanks to the major project responsibility of DNWB and the close collaboration with our BI consultants in the field of architecture, integration, analysis and reporting, the next step in the MasLow pyramid can always be taken while being in control. In short: an integral, modular and robust BI solution for DNWB that all people involved can be proud of.
